On coming in paris

The final couple of several weeks have certainly been filled with adventures as we left the house and church family in New You are able to, packed up all of our possessions, and travelled with this dog overseas to start a brand new existence in Paris.  I’ve much to create about within the days in the future about departing our beloved family, buddies, and students home, but wish to write a short update since our arrival in Paris only 6 days ago.

Our fears and anxieties dissipated upon arrival in Paris.  Our gracious God demonstrated themself (once more) to become faithful to his promises.  The 3 people showed up secure with all of luggage in hands to some warm and welcoming community in Paris.  Our new church home, the American Church in Paris showered us with elegance, love, support, and provisions as soon as we arrived in Charles de Gaulle airport terminal.

An recently renovated apartment fully furnished with a completely stocked fridge welcomed us at 65 quai d’ Orsay.

The whole pastoral staff and church staff happen to be very kind and gracious using their efforts and time in assisting us adjust to a different existence and ministry.  Soon after we unpacked making our new place “home”, I had been introduced the next morning whatsoever three worship services (Breaking of the bread, Traditional, and Contemporary) and also the round of applause was simply overwhelming.  The church have been faithful and dedicated to pray for all of us since first day, with the difficult procedure for saying good-byes, the greater difficult procedure for acquiring our visas, and our arrival to Paris.

That mid-day we’d our first youth group and were once more at a loss for the romance and support.  On Tuesday we lead the youthful adult community at ACP and were surprised about the wealthy diversity from the gathering. Over 15 different countries and nationalities were symbolized including (although not restricted to) Pakistan, Canada, Philippines, Romania, Nz, Cameroon, China, Bangladesh, Jamaica, and much more.  There’s beauty in eclectic and ecumenical settings, particularly when Christ is the middle of the city!

During our first week, ACP held a VBS program every morning for that more youthful children along with a “Young Artists” week for that older students.  I took part in this excellent program, lead by Scottish artist Peter Chalmers.

The collective group project ended up being to brainstorm, script, film, and edit a film.  The artistic and inventive expressions of those students would be a sight to behold.  Personally i think very fortunate to achieve the unique chance of dealing with these worldwide students included in the youth group at ACP.

On the personal side, we have loved every minute of going through the sights, sounds, and tastes of Paris!  Self-led walking tours, navigating the Metro and bus systems, buying groceries in the local markets and niche shops, 4-5 hour dinners at recently acquired buddies homes, experiencing the culinary enjoys our local arrondissement’s numerous cafes, brasseries, and bistros have certainly stored us busy now.

We’re excited to carry on to make new friends, discover the language and customs, and dream of existence and ministry within Paris. We truly thankfully for this kind of amazing church community for example ACP and expect as to the God has ahead for that youth and youthful adult ministry at our church and also the greater Paris community.
