Diy restoration hardware french mute books – bless’er house

These were $125 for five totally blank ones. Ummm….. no.

However it was the simplest mid-day project to streamline our office shelves making our very own books look extra fancy schmancy.

Supplies used:

  • Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White-colored
  • Annie Sloan Obvious Soft Wax
  • A couple of brown paper lunch bags
  • Scissors
  • Mod Podge in Matte
  • Ultra fine tip black permanent marker
  • 2 craft brushes
  • Clean, dry lint-free rag
  • And a collection of your personal books obviously

I disseminate our books on the dining table and opened up them face lower.  I only required to paint on a single coat of chalk paint around the covers, but that you can do two if you feel it’s necessary.  Make certain to paint all the edges and creases of the covers too.

Once the paint was dry, I applied on the coat from the obvious wax to close them.  If you desired to create yours a bit more antique searching, you can stick to the obvious wax with a few dark wax, but it’s entirely up to you.

Because we had paperback books too, I ripped the covers off so only the pages were showing.

While using brown paper bags, I cut them up into rectangular pieces for labels, authored around the book titles using the permanent marker, and pasted these to it spines after some Mod Podge.

I’ll need to eventually arrange our books into genres, until then, they a minimum of seem like decor on the shelves.  William Shakespeare and Nicholas Sparks will have to be buddies for the time being.

There’s much more happening in here that I’ll be discussing with everyone tomorrow.

So what is your opinion?  Have I totally lost my marbles painting our books?  Is there a librarian available somewhere cringing? (Sorry, Mother.) Or isn’t it time to color yours too?

As lengthy when i can continue to read them, my bookworm self is satisfied.  Got any amazing must-reads in your book list?  Maybe basically start stocking in the summer time reads now, warmer weather will arrive.  Maybe? Maybe?! Here’s wishing.
