Created for students in an advanced degree of French, the C.V. Starr-Middlebury School in France provides possibilities to see French culture in Paris, the cosmopolitan capital in the centre of France.

La "Ville Lumière", Paris hosts numerous museums, cafés, and medieval roads that wind around contemporary architecture. A town à decouvrir, Paris is definitely an invitation to see all of the world’s cultures while keeping a proud and clearly French feeling.

Le Center Madeleine, the headquarters from the Middlebury School in France, is situated in the eighth arrondissement, near to the Place en Concorde and also the Champs-Elysées. Students sign up for courses across several disciplines at both Center Madeleine as well as in one of many partner institutions: the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3, the Université Paris Diderot- Paris 7, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot (ENM for Music majors only), or even the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture (ESA) (for Architecture majors only).

Academic Program

This program starts with an orientation along with a non-credit preliminary course in French language. Middlebury administers a language proficiency exam to determine which language course students will require throughout the semester. All semester-lengthy students will need to take a French language course in the Center Madeleine at either the intermediate high or advanced level. Eligibility

  • Completing a maximum-division French course (100-level or greater), or even the equivalent.
  • 9. GPA in French, 9. GPA in student’s major, and eight. GPA overall.
